Storm Daniel has devastated Libya. Thousands of people have died and between 60,000 and 80,000 people have been displaced.
We are on the ground, responding to the crisis. Donate now to support the people of Libya.
On 10 September, storm Daniel swept across Libya causing massive floods. So far, a reported 11,000 people have died, and more than 10,000 are missing. According to the foreign ministry, between 60,000 and 80,000 people have been displaced with no prospect of going back home.
Due to ongoing conflict, the people of Libya will have an even harder time recovering from the disaster. Hospitals and emergency shelters are overstretched. This will be the most severe peak of the humanitarian crisis in the country.
We have 100 trained and experienced staff in the country, including 45 in the Benghazi office, who are now preparing to respond to this massive crisis, focusing on already displaced populations.
"Our dedicated team is currently present on the ground, ready to extend support to resilient families and their vulnerable children, offering shelter, food and other basic essentials supplies. The repercussions of this disaster will be long-lasting, but our commitment to standing in solidarity with the affected population remains unwavering," reports Dax Roque, our Country Director in Libya.
Urgent funding is needed. Now is the time to show solidarity.
